One of the Algarve’s biggest celebrations of street food is returning to Lagos next week, with four days of international cuisine, live music and family entertainment.
The 11th edition of the Lagos Food Fest takes place from July 2 to 5 in Jardim da Constituição, bringing together around 30 food trucks and street food vendors from Portugal and around the world.
Over the past decade, the festival has become one of the Algarve’s best-known food events, attracting thousands of residents and tourists every summer.
Visitors will be able to sample everything from traditional Portuguese favourites – including bifanas (pork sandwiches), pregos (steak sandwiches), fresh oysters, Monchique presunto, Aljezur sweet potatoes and cod dishes – to Italian, Mexican, Peruvian, Brazilian, Asian and Mediterranean specialities.
Among this year’s highlights is Wonder Braz, described as Portugal’s first food truck dedicated entirely to Bacalhau à Brás. Created by MasterChef Portugal contestant Mafalda Caldas, the concept offers creative takes on the classic Portuguese dish, including duck, crab and vegetarian versions.
The festival will also feature pizzas served in cones, handmade dumplings, Asian baos, tacos, ceviche, smash burgers, wraps, bubble tea, tropical cocktails, stuffed Bolas de Berlim doughnuts, gelato and a wide range of desserts.
Live music and DJs will provide entertainment throughout the four days, with performances by Toby One, The Protons, Marsha Jam, DJ Juju and the DJ collective Por Aí, alongside a traditional Portuguese dance evening with Emanuel & Tânia.
Guest chefs will also appear during the festival, while families can enjoy dedicated children’s areas with inflatables and trampolines.
“Lagos Food Fest was created to celebrate gastronomy as a meeting point between cultures and people. Eleven years later, we continue to grow while maintaining the welcoming, relaxed and inclusive atmosphere that has always defined the festival,” says event organiser Maria Loureiro de Lemos.
“This year’s edition brings together some of Portugal’s most exciting street food concepts and promises four unforgettable days for both residents and visitors,” she adds.
The event will run from 12pm to 12am. Admission is free.
