Jolly Jump has issued a public statement responding to claims made by mother Raisa Vella about a serious water slide accident she says left her with shattered feet last summer.
In its statement, the family attraction said it was “truly sorry” that Vella suffered an injury and acknowledged that “no family day out should end in injury.”
However, the company disputed several of the claims made in Vella’s social media post, saying it felt it was important to clarify what it described as “incorrect statements.”
Jolly Jump said Vella had not been ignored following the incident, stating that she has been in communication with one of its directors and representatives since shortly after the accident. It added that discussions have continued through the appropriate legal and advisory channels, including as recently as a few days ago.
The company also rejected Vella’s claim that a plastic mat had been carelessly left at the bottom of the slide, saying the mat formed part of the attraction’s safety setup.
Addressing another point raised by Vella, Jolly Jump said the whistle she referred to was not intended to rush her down the slide but was instead being used as a safety signal between attendants to ensure another rider was not sent down before the landing area was clear.
Jolly Jump further stated that lifeguards and medics were present on site following the incident and that assistance was available, although it said Vella’s accompanying party immediately took the lead in helping her. The company said it would not comment further on personal details out of respect for Vella and her family.
The attraction concluded by saying it remains open to resolving the matter through the appropriate channels and reiterated that safety remains its highest priority. It said it regularly reviews its procedures, staff protocols and operating standards, including carrying out risk assessments and maintaining medical personnel, lifeguards and support staff on site throughout operating hours.
Vella had previously alleged that the August 2025 incident left her with life-changing injuries requiring multiple surgeries and months of rehabilitation. She said she decided to speak publicly after legal proceedings had progressed, hoping to encourage others with similar experiences to come forward.
