
Magnitude 6.6 earthquake jolts Davao Occidental
CEBU CITY, Philippines — A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Davao Occidental on Friday evening, June 26, shaking several parts of southern Mindanao but causing no immediate reports of damage or injuries. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the tectonic earthquake occurred at 7:34 p.m. The quake’s epicenter lay 90 kilometers south, 12 degrees west of Balut Island in the Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
