Italian rail company Trenitalia is
informing some customers via email that it has "detected a
cybersecurity incident caused by unidentified external parties"
that resulted in "unauthorized access to some personal data
related to travel tickets."
The company states that, following checks, it was able to
"identify the affected customers" and send them the
notification.
Trenitalia states, however, that "no account access data,
personal credentials, or payment information (such as card
number, expiration date, or security code) were affected," and
adds that it has "notified the incident to the Italian Data
Protection Authority and to the Italian CSIR, in accordance with
current legislation, and filed a complaint" with the Rome Public
Prosecutor's Office.
