President Trump’s visit to North Dakota for an event next week will mark the inaugural trip of the new Qatari-gifted Air Force One, according to the White House.
Bloomberg was the first to report on the flight on the new Boeing 747-8, which Trump unveiled last week at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
The new plane has a red, white, gold and navy blue color scheme, with a presidential seal on its left side and an American flag on the tale.
The jet is set to be a “bridge” aircraft used between the older Boeing 747-200s, which have been in use for more than 20 years, and two new Boeing planes that will not be ready until 2028.
“There will never be one like this. This is very unique. This is considered the world’s most luxurious plane,” Trump said last week when he unveiled the aircraft.
He added, “When it was built, it was built at a level that will probably never be seen again.”
The president also confirmed he would be taking the updated Air Force One to the NATO summit in Turkey in July and to China when he goes back “at some point,” potentially to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November.
Trump is also slated to attend a fireworks show in South Dakota next Friday at the historic Mount Rushmore landmark.
He became the last president to fly aboard one of the heavily customized Boeing 747-200s operating as Air Force One last week, as it made its final flight to bring the commander in chief back from Europe.
