If you’ve got outdoor plans this weekend, make sure you’ve packed the sunscreen and plenty of water because Malta is set for another spell of intense summer heat.
According to the Malta Met Office, the current Yellow High Temperature Warning will remain in force over the coming days, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 33°C and 35°C until at least Wednesday 1st July.
Saturday is forecast to be sunny with highs of 34°C, while Sunday will be even hotter, reaching 35°C.
The heat won’t ease much after sunset either, with overnight temperatures expected to hover between 23°C and 24°C, offering little relief.
Adding to the sweltering conditions, winds are expected to remain light and variable throughout the weekend, meaning there’ll be very little natural cooling.
Combined with very high UV levels, anyone spending extended periods outdoors is being urged to take extra precautions.
The Met Office is reminding the public to stay hydrated, apply sunscreen regularly, wear light clothing and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day.
People are also encouraged to check in on elderly relatives, neighbours and other vulnerable individuals, while parents and pet owners are reminded never to leave children or animals inside parked vehicles.
Looking ahead, there is little indication of a cooldown, with the hot and settled weather expected to continue well into next week.
