See Brad Pitt and Edward Norton's Rare Fight Club Reunion at USA's World Cup Match
What happens in Fight Club doesn’t always stay in Fight Club.
After all, Brad Pitt and Edward Norton—who both starred in the 1999 film—had a mini reunion at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood Calif, as Team USA and Team Turkey faced off in a group stage match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In videos circulating social media from the June 25 game, Pitt—who played Tyler Durden in the cult classic film—donned Team USA polo along with a white bucket hat and white pants. As he took in the game, he was joined by Norton, who sported a Radiohead T-shirt and gray jeans.
The former costars engaged in lighthearted conversation as they took in the match, which ended with Turkey winning 3-2.
And while the stars have become quite an iconic duo in the nearly 30 years since Fight Club premiered, Norton recently reflected on how surprising the film’s trajectory has been.
“People forget,” Norton—who played the unnamed narrator in the film—explained during a June 24 appearance on the Fly on the Wall podcast. “It became such a definitive film but it was a total financial bomb. I mean, when it came out it didn’t do well at all.”
Estimating that the David Fincher flick cost around $70 million to make, Norton admitted, “I don’t even know if it got to $40 million at the U.S. box office.”
Indeed, Norton recalled that the film even got booed during its Venice Film Festival premiere—but he and Pitt had prepared for a less-than-stellar response.
“At the hotel beforehand, Brad pulled me aside and said, ‘How do you think this is going to go?’” The Invite actor recalled. “And I said, ‘I don’t think this is going to go well at all.’ He said, ‘Me neither, let’s get stoned.’”

Despite audiences initially not understanding it, Norton and Pitt were sure of what they made. As Norton recalled of the nightmare premiere, “Brad turned to me in the dark at the end of it kind of tearful and he said, ‘I think that’s the best movie I’m ever going to be in.’”
Evidently, Pitt wasn’t so far off. Keep reading for every secret about Fight Club…
