A total of 11 Portuguese people have died in the waters along Portugal’s coast and waterways this year up to July 31…

Two deaths occurred at beaches with lifeguards, while four were at unsupervised beaches and a further five in fluvial areas such as dams.

The report also stated that six deaths were caused by sudden illness, while five were from drowning.

So far this year, lifeguards have carried out more than 160 rescues at supervised beaches across Portugal.
