
BOC, other agencies to tackle suspected US e-waste shipments in Subic
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said on Saturday it is convening government agencies and environmental groups to coordinate the government’s response to suspected electronic waste shipments from the United States that entered the Subic Bay Freeport. Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said the meeting is aimed at clarifying the roles of concerned agencies, ensure compliance with environmental and customs laws, and identify appropriate legal and regulatory measures while court proceedings over the shipments remain pending.
