Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said the planned transit-oriented development (TOD) area at Sudirman Station in Jakarta, popularly known as the "Dukuh Atas Donut Bridge," will integrate six modes of public transportation.
"The TOD will connect six transportation modes in Jakarta," the minister said during a media briefing here on Friday.
He said the six integrated transport services comprise the KRL Commuter Line, Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, LRT Jakarta, and the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link.
The Sudirman Station TOD is expected to serve as an integrated hub for these six modes, making passenger transfers easier and improving accessibility across Jakarta.
According to him, construction of the Donut Bridge is targeted for completion in 2028 and will be fully implemented by the Jakarta provincial government through MRT Jakarta.
"The Donut Bridge is expected to be completed in 2028 and will be fully executed by the regional government through MRT Jakarta," he said.
He explained that the TOD is designed as a central connectivity hub linking various mass transportation systems to enable faster, more comfortable, and more efficient daily travel.
The concept is currently referred to as the Donut Bridge due to its design and function as an intermodal transportation connector, although its official name has yet to be finalized, Purwagandhi mentioned.
"There are six rail-based transport modes connected in this area. We expect Jakarta to become more widely connected. We have not given it an official name yet, so for now we call it the 'Donut Bridge,'" he said.
With this integration, public transport users will no longer face complicated intermodal transfers, as all services will be connected within a unified TOD area.
The government expects the development will encourage more people to shift to public transport, as access becomes easier, travel times are shortened, and passenger services are improved.
