A 51-year-old man has been charged in court after allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl at a YMCA shelter as reported by TVM news.
Reuben Xuereb, who was also living at the shelter at the time, pleaded not guilty to charges alleging he touched the child’s private parts.
The court heard that the girl’s mother reported the alleged incident after finding a video on a mobile phone which allegedly showed indecent contact involving her daughter.
Xuereb, who told the court he works for a gaming company, was remanded in custody after the defence did not request bail at this stage.
The court also issued a protection order in favour of the young girl and her parents.
The case is ongoing.
