(NEXSTAR) — If you used an ATM at certain 7-Eleven locations, you may qualify for part of a $2.25 million settlement in a class action lawsuit. The deadline to apply, however, is fast-approaching.
A 2019 lawsuit filed in California accused Bank of America of charging two out-of-network fees for one balance inquiry by customers at ATMs in 7-Eleven stores.
While Bank of America denied any wrongdoing, it agreed to the $2.25 million settlement.
Do I qualify for this Bank of America settlement?
That depends on whether you are or were a Bank of America customer. If you were, and used an FCTI-owned ATM in a 7-Eleven between May 1, 2018, and Nov. 16, 2021.
An easier way to tell if you qualify? You may have received notice of the settlement via email or postcard.
Former account holders who are notified of the settlement will need to submit a claim and select a preferred payment method. To file a claim, you’ll need the class member ID listed on the email or postcard notice you received.
Current account holders need to take no action, settlement administrators say.
How much will I receive?
Payments will vary based on how many current account holders, who receive relief immediately, were impacted, and how many former account holders file a valid claim.
Settlement administrators say payments will be proportional.

You will want to consult the postcard or email you received, administrators say. You will use the information on that notice to file a claim online or by paper.

When is the deadline, and when will payments begin?
The deadline to file a claim is June 29, 2026.
A final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for August 2026.
In most class action lawsuits, payments are sent out shortly after the final approval hearing. However, objections and other court proceedings can delay this process.
