The Young and the Restless head writer Josh Griffith, is leaving the CBS daytime drama, according to media reports.
The cast and crew of the soap have been informed of Griffith’s decision, according to TV Insider.
Deadline has reached out to a rep for the show, who could not be reached for comment. Y&R is on hiatus until Monday, July 6.
No word yet on a successor, and both TV Insider and Soap Opera Digest are reporting that Griffith’s departure date is not yet clear. He apparently will continue in his position for the time being.
Griffith is a longtime vet of the soap world, with writing jobs, since the late 1980s, including gigs at As the World Turns, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, One Life to Live, Santa Barbara and Sunset Beach.
He joined The Young and the Restless as a breakdown writer in 2006, and has since held such titles as creative consultant, co-executive producer, supervising producer and his current titles of head writer and executive producer.
His work at Y&R has earned him four Daytime Emmy Awards, and he won three others for Santa Barbara and One Life to Live.
