
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Croatia have agreed to expedite the finalization of a MoU on the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in hospitality sector, according to a statement from the Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Here in Jakarta on Saturday (June 27), the ministry stated that Deputy Foreign Minister M. Anis Matta secured the shared commitment following a meeting with the State Secretary at Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Frano Matuši, during Matta's visit to Croatia on June 24-27.
Matta and Matuši discussed the deepening cooperation across strategic sectors, including trade and investment, education, digitalisation, tourism, and the defense industry, while highlighting Croatia’s support for Indonesian interests in Europe.
Indonesia proposed concrete steps toward stronger ties, such as establishing regular business forums, developing integrated tourism packages, strengthening the role of Rijeka Port in logistics shipping, and fostering film collaboration involving creative industry actors from both countries.

The talks further addressed Croatia’s support for Indonesia’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the finalization of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
Both ministers also changed perspectives on developments in Indonesia-EU relationship and the importance of collaboration among developing countries to maintain international stability amid mounting global uncertainty.
In addition to holding the bilateral meeting, Deputy Minister Matta attended the Dubrovnik Forum 2026, themed The Age of Multipolarity: Many Directions, One Future.
The 20th edition of the forum provided a venue for leaders and policymakers to discuss geopolitical challenges, international security, economic resilience, and the future of multilateralism.
Minister Matta also made the most of the overseas visit to pay a courtesy call to Croatia’s Grand Mufti Aziz Efendi Hasanovi at the Zagreb Islamic Center to talk about global geopolitics, Islamic world conditions, muslim networking, interfaith dialogue, and religious moderation.
