Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto pointed out that technological developments, including nuclear technology and artificial intelligence (AI), do not always have a positive impact on humanity.
"Technology is not always positive for humanity. Now, let us take a look at nuclear, which can be of great help for humans on one side," Prabowo remarked during the closing ceremony of the Indonesian National Convention of Science, Technology, and Industry Convention 2026 in Jakarta on Sunday.
However, on the other hand, the same technology also has a destructive potential that could threaten human civilisation.
Prabowo also touched upon AI developments, which is currently a focus for various countries competing to develop this technology so as not to be left behind. AI developers have warned of the potential challenges this technology could pose for humanity in the future.
"Almost every country is now pursuing AI, not wanting to be left behind. But the very inventors of AI themselves have warned that it could cause problems for humanity," Prabowo noted.

He then discussed the emergence of AI agents, systems said to be capable of working for individuals, groups, corporations, organisations or even nations.
Prabowo mentioned there are currently around five million AI agents which are said to be interacting with one another via their own chat rooms using their own coded language.
"Reports indicate that there are now five million AI agents. Well, this number was maybe derived three weeks ago. It is said that these five million agents now have their own chat rooms where they interact with one another with a code language,” he said.
Therefore, he urged professors and intellectuals with relevant expertise to study such development and its implications for humanity.
