The man arrived in Malta on a flight from Barcelona during the night between Friday and Saturday. After entering the arrivals hall, he was stopped by police officers and searched.
During the search, officers noticed something suspicious beneath his shirt. They allegedly discovered a package taped to his abdomen containing around one kilogram of a substance suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of approximately €125,000.
The man is being held in police custody and is expected to be arraigned in court today at around 11am before Magistrate Dr Tanya Sammut, where he will face charges related to the alleged importation of drugs.
