Police seek witnesses to alleged Dannevirke assault
Police are making inquiries about an anti-social gathering, as part of an investigation into an assault in the Tararua district last month.
Senior Sergeant Carey Williamson says an alleged assault took place at the intersection of Laws Road and Top Grass Road in Dannevirke on Sunday, 21 June at about 8.50pm.
Tararua Police are interested in a group of vehicles that "may have been engaging in antisocial road-user activity" in the area on the night of the alleged assault.
"We are interested in hearing from anyone who might have information or footage," Sergeant Williamson said.
"Even if you're unsure, we encourage you to come forward, so the matter can be assessed."
Anyone with information could contact the police on 105, quoting file number 260622/3555.
Police also advised people to call 111, if they witnessed unlawful driving, large convoys or gatherings, and not confront those involved.
"If it is safe to do so, capturing images or video may assist police."
