Magnitude 4.8 quake shakes lower North Island
Parts of the lower North Island have been shaken by a light earthquake.
The magnitude 4.8 quake - which struck just after 11pm - was centred 65 kilometres offshore of Levin in Horowhenua.
It was 54 kilometres deep.
More than 5000 people reported feeling the shake.
