Armed police descended on the small King Country town of Te Kūiti following a firearms incident on Monday morning but say the incident has now been resolved.
Police earlier said armed officers were responding to the firearms incident on Esplanade, with cordons from Ngarongo Street to Nettie Street and asked members of the public to avoid the area.
But police now said there was no ongoing risk to the public and all cordons in the area had been removed.
