
Bam Aquino: Gaming used as ‘convenient scapegoat’ for school violence
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bam Aquino on Monday called video games as “convenient scapegoat” behind minor-inflicted violence despite many studies finding no correlation between games and school shootings. The senator’s statement comes amid growing discussions to ban violent video games after a wave of school violence — including fatal shootings and stabbings — struck three different campuses across the country. “Video games have been around for 50 years, but they’re always a convenient scapegoat whenever there’s an incident of violence,” the senator stressed in a statement.
