Police are investigating the theft of about 1000 litres of fuel from a business in Tarras, Central Otago.
They said the fuel was taken from the corner of Jollys Road and Deep Creek Road, along with a number of items vital for the business's day-to-day operations, between 5pm Friday 19 June and 7am Monday 22 June.
Detective Scott Vollweiler urged people to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious, or who had any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area.
"We understand these offences are extremely frustrating for business owners and are urging anybody with information to come forward and talk to police," he said.
Vollweiler said people could avoid fuel thefts by parking with their fuel caps close to a wall or another vehicle and keeping tanks out of sight where possible.
Police, FMG and Federated Farmers also recommended installing security lighting for fuel tanks and fuelling areas, keeping an inventory of fuel consumption and installing locking devices on petrol and diesel tanks.
