Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have rescued 11 kidnap victims who were reportedly abducted from their farms in Ogbido Community at Iyahmo, in Etsako West Local Government of Edo State.
The Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the police on June 25, 2026 received a distress call alleging that 11 persons had been kidnapped in the area.
She said the operatives of Iyahmo Division led by the Divisional Police officer, in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, mobilized for rescue operations within the surrounding forest.
According to her, during the operation, the rescue team encountered the suspected kidnappers, leading to a gun duel and in the process, the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled into the forest.
She said the victims – nine males and two females – were rescued unhurt.
They include Braimah Destiny, 46; Aruna Idris 38; Abudu Sharafadeem, 38; Godwin Elizabeth, 28; James Favour 28; Nonso Ana 30; Abdulilia Ozigi 26; Lambo James 27; Wasia Abdul 48; Lucky Emmanuel 24 and Suleman Aliyu 25.
