A family escaped unhurt after a fire, triggered by a suspected air-conditioner blast, broke out in a flat on the 21st floor of a residential building in Noida’s Sector 119 Monday morning, prompting the deployment of six fire tenders.
“At the time of the incident, the family was asleep but managed to come out safely as soon as they noticed the fire. No one was injured, and the fire was contained within half an hour,” Pradeep Kumar, Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Gautam Buddh Nagar, said.
The senior officer said around 15-20 firefighting personnel entered the flat through the balcony and from inside. “Since the fire was reported to be severe, the police, an ambulance, and six fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the spot,” he added.
According to fire department officials, their control room received a call around 8.50 am reporting a fire at a high-rise in Sector 119, under the jurisdiction of the Sector 113 police station.
“The fire was contained to a single flat on the 21st floor and was prevented from spreading to the rest of the building. However, smoke reached up to two floors above it,” said a police officer.
Earlier this month, a couple and their children were safely rescued after being trapped during a massive fire that broke out in two flats at the Ivy County apartment complex in Noida’s Sector-75.
Officials had suspected that either a short circuit in the AC or a candle lit for a puja may have sparked the blaze.
