Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, in collaboration with the Open University (UT), expressed support for President Prabowo Subianto's directive highlighting innovation as the main force for national progress.
Deputy for Education Quality Improvement at the ministry, Ojat Darojat, speaking during the UT's Graduation Seminar here on Monday, reaffirmed the government's commitment to realizing the President's innovation vision to produce high-quality human resources.
While technological mastery continues to be accelerated, Darojat underscored the philosophical principle emphasized by President Prabowo that system modernization should not diminish human values but instead place people at the center of development.
"Technology is a tool, but it is people whom we must develop. The question is how we develop people as the center, supported by the integration of technology. In the context of future human development, we will continue to place people as the focal point," he said.
UT Rector Prof. Ali Muktiyanto said technological adaptation is no longer merely an option for the university but an absolute necessity to remain relevant and sustainable.
"Innovation is the lifeblood of UT. If UT stops innovating, it will cease to move forward. That is the key. Through innovation, we bring the future into the present," he remarked.
Muktiyanto explained that fostering an innovation-driven culture is not only expected of education providers but is also instilled in students from the beginning through the New Student Orientation Program (OSMB).
One real example is the university's highly flexible online assessment and examination system, which allows students to take exams from home using their smartphones, even at one o'clock in the morning.
Earlier, President Prabowo stressed that a country's success is determined not by its ability to avoid problems but by its courage to confront and overcome every difficulty and challenge.
"Difficulties must be confronted. We must have the courage to face them, acknowledge them, and work hard to find solutions," Prabowo said.
