Bajura district has been officially declared a fully immunised and immunisation-sustained district amid a programme on Sunday after ensuring complete vaccination coverage for eligible children across all nine local levels. The declaration was made after children from birth to 15 months and those aged between 16 and 23 months were vaccinated with all required vaccines under the national immunisation programme.
Altogether 1,348 children in the district have received full immunisation, according to the District Health Office, Bajura. The Office shared that the number of fully immunised children from birth to 15 months included 274 in Triveni municipality, 174 in Gaumul rural municipality, 310 in Khaptad Chhededaha rural municipality and 218 in Swamikartik Khapar rural municipality.
Likewise, 300 children were fully immunised in Badimalika municipality, 353 in Budhinanda municipality, 236 in Budhiganga municipality, 162 in Jagannath rural municipality and 180 in Himali rural municipality. However, health officials reported a small number of children who had not completed the full vaccination schedule despite receiving an initial dose, including one child each in Triveni municipality, Badimalika municipality and Budhinanda municipality.
Tulsiram Rokaya, Coordinator at the District Vaccination Coordination Committee as well as Chief of the District Coordination Committee, commended the significant role of female community health volunteers and health workers at the local level in achieving and sustaining full immunisation coverage in the district.
