
COTABATO CITY — An armed man was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest during a law enforcement operation in Barangay New Panay, Aleosan, Cotabato province at dawn on Monday.
Police authorities implementing a search warrant also arrested another man, seized five pistols and confiscated 22 sachets of suspected shabu during the 4:30 a.m. operation.
Brig. Gen. Alan Manibog, Police Regional Office (PRO-12) regional director, said a certain “Jonard” was killed after he allegedly opened fire on the approaching lawmen serving the search warrant, prompting the police to return fire.

Three suspects, identified through their aliases as “Thompson,” “Bade,” and “Kiko” managed to elude arrest. They are facing charges for violation of Republic Act Nos. 10591 (illegal possession of firearm) and 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
An alias “Pipay” was arrested for possession of a 9mm pistol.
Manibog said the police will intensify its anti-drug and anti-criminality operation to ensure the safety of the local populace.
“We will continue to implement the law with high respect to human rights so that communities in the Soccsksargen region are safe,” Manibog said. /das
