
Five people are dead after a shooting in the northern German town of Stade, and two people have been detained in the northern German town of Stade, a police spokesperson said on Monday.
One of the detainees is the suspected shooter, and the role of the other is currently unclear, he told Reuters, adding that
no other suspects were at large.
There were also injuries, police said, but they did not give a figure.
Police said the shooting took place in the facility on Dankersstrasse, a street south of the town center. They said that there was no danger to the public.
The motive is currently unclear, police added. Local media reported that the incident had taken place in a youth centre in central Stade, a town of just below 50,000 people to the west of Hamburg.
Some reports referred to multiple suspects, but police did not immediately confirm this.
