At least five killed in shooting in Stade in northern Germany, police say

Five ​people are dead ​after a shooting in the northern German town ​of ‌Stade, and two people ​have been ​detained in the northern ​German ‌town ⁠of Stade, ⁠a police spokesperson said on ​Monday.

One of ‌the detainees is the suspected shooter, ‌and the role of ​the other is currently unclear, he told ​Reuters, adding ​that

no other ​suspects were at ​large.

There were also injuries, police said, but they did not give a figure.

Police said the shooting took place in the facility on Dankersstrasse, a street south of the town center. They said that there was no danger to the public.

The motive is currently unclear, police ​added. Local media reported ‌that the incident had taken place ‌in a youth centre in ​central Stade, a town of just below 50,000 people ​to the west ​of Hamburg.

Some ​reports referred to multiple suspects, ​but police did not immediately confirm this.
