The Algarve and Alentejo are teaming up to promote southwest Portugal through a tourism campaign highlighting the natural landscapes, culture and gastronomy of Aljezur, Monchique and Odemira.
The digital side of the campaign, titled Ao Natural é Melhor (Better Naturally), targets the Portuguese and Spanish markets and encourages visitors to discover a slower, more authentic side of the two regions.
The initiative focuses on the complementary attractions of the three municipalities. Aljezur is promoted for its Atlantic coastline, beaches and surfing, Monchique for its mountains, wellness tourism and natural heritage, and Odemira for combining river, countryside and coastline with traditional gastronomy and cultural experiences.
According to the tourism bodies from both regions, Turismo do Alentejo and Região de Turismo do Algarve (RTA), the campaign aims to encourage visitors to reconnect with nature while discovering the landscapes, traditions and local way of life that define the southwest of Portugal.
The promotional campaign is being rolled out through a multi-platform strategy targeting Portugal and Spain, particularly neighbouring Andalusia. It includes digital advertising, editorial content, branded content, radio and television campaigns, outdoor advertising, and collaborations with content creators.
Nature, gastronomy, culture, water-based activities, wellness and outdoor experiences will all feature prominently throughout the campaign in an effort to showcase the diversity of the destination.
The initiative forms part of the Communication and Branding Programme for the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina and is supported by Turismo de Portugal through its +Interior Turismo – Regenerar Territórios programme.
