
MANILA, Philippines — The Marala Bridge in Navotas City was temporarily closed to all types of vehicles on Monday night, June 29, after an electric post collapsed, local authorities said.
In an advisory issued at 7:28 p.m., the local government said motorists should avoid the area and take alternative routes to prevent traffic congestion while authorities respond to the incident.
The city government said the incident had already been reported to Manila Electric Company, and the company’s response crew was already on its way to the site.

First responders from the Navotas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Traffic and Parking Management Office, the Philippine National Police, and the Bureau of Fire Protection were deployed to manage the situation.
Authorities have yet to determine what caused the electric post to collapse.
No immediate information on injuries or when the bridge would be reopened to vehicular traffic was included in the advisory posted by the Navotas City Public Information Office. /mcm
