The Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture Dr Danjuma Mahmud, has clarified that the State procured 630 Trucks of Fertilizer for 203- 2026 farming seasons.
Weekend Trust had reported that the state procured 630 trucks of fertiliser for the 2026 farming season alone.
But the commissioner, however, clarified that the number covered between 2023 when the administration assumed office and this year.
“If you include what we’re going to distribute in the next couple of weeks to come, and the one that comes to the state government and have distributed, procured, in some cases jointly with local government, are about 630 trucks of fertilizers,” he said.

He said there was a time when the governor, chose on his own to give at least over 60 trucks of fertilizers free to the farmers because the administration wanted them to return to work and recover what they lost the previous season.
Danjuma also acknowledged support from the federal government, saying in the last one year, about 70 trucks were freely given to farmers in the state.
The Commissioner explained that the ministry had achieved a lot in vaccinating large number of animals before the coming on board of the new ministry of Livestock Development in addition to working with some seed companies to provide climate smart, drought resistant seeds that enhance productivity.
“So these are some of the things that we’ve achieved, but most importantly, I’m sure in the next couple of weeks, it will be a talk of town when we deploy our mechanized farm implements that the state has really… over the last two years from combined harvesters to tractors, to transplanters, to other farm implements, including farm spray machines and small rice mill and even large rice mill that we have now. And again, we have secured a large number of solar irrigation pumps because buying fossil fuel to irrigate, it’s really not cost effective anymore. So we secured a good number of solar irrigation pumps that could be distributed to cooperatives, largely to cooperatives,” he said.
