MANILA, Philippines — The Misamis Occidental-based cop caught in a now-viral video allegedly brandishing his gun during an argument said he regretted the incident as he faced the National Police Commission (Napolcom) on Monday.
Napolcom Commissioner Rafael Calinisan identified the officer as Police Corporal Henry Boquida Jr., who allegedly pointed his gun at a civilian in Barangay Antipolo, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, last week.
“I regret the shortcoming I had,” Boquida said in Filipino in a press briefing after meeting with Calinisan at the Napolcom head office in Quezon City.

“The civilian had something bad to say about my wife. So, when I saw him, and I was under the influence of alcohol, I did that,” he explained.
“To my comrades, if we have a problem, don’t just drink it away. Let’s just pray about it to the Lord and read the Bible to be enlightened on the challenges in our lives,” he added.
At the briefing, Calinisan said he and Boquida talked for an hour before facing the media.
“He was extremely remorseful, very different from what we saw in the video,” he explained.

Calinisan said Napolcom Zamboanga Peninsula would still pursue administrative cases against Boquida for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
The Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office previously said Boquida had been relieved from his post, disarmed, and placed under restrictive custody following the incident. /mcm
