
MANILA, Philippines — White Plains Avenue in Quezon City is temporarily closed to vehicular traffic due to an ongoing rally, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Tuesday morning.
In an advisory on social media, the MMDA said White Plains Avenue is been temporarily closed as of 5:15 a.m.
An estimated 500 rallyists and 30 vehicles, the MMDA said, marched from the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) Corinthian Gardens gate to White Plains Avenue at around 3:48 a.m.

“Personnel from the PNP are currently on site to maintain peace and order, while MMDA personnel are managing traffic in the area,” the MMDA said.

“Expect slow moving traffic in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays and take alternate routes when possible,” it added.
Media reports noted that authorities had yet to identify which groups are behind the rally. /gsg
