
MANILA – A yellow alert has been declared over the Visayas grid from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday due to the unavailability of several power plants amid high electricity demand. The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the grid has an available capacity of 2,559 megawatts (MW), while peak demand is projected to reach 2,320 MW. NGCP said generating units 1 and 2 of Therma Visayas Inc. (TVI) and Unit 3 of Panay Energy Development Corporation (PEDC) remain unavailable.
