A brief spell of stronger northwesterly winds is set to sweep across Malta later this week, bringing rougher seas before calmer summer weather returns.
According to the Malta Meteorological Office’s latest forecast, temperatures will remain hot over the coming days, reaching highs of 33–34°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
However, conditions are expected to turn noticeably windier on Thursday, with a northwesterly Mistral reaching Force 5 to 6. The stronger winds are expected to make sea conditions rough, particularly along Malta’s northwestern coastline and other exposed areas.
Beachgoers and swimmers are advised to exercise caution, as waves are expected to become significantly higher in exposed locations.
The windy spell is forecast to be short-lived, with lighter winds and mainly sunny weather returning from Friday onwards. Temperatures will also remain firmly in summer territory, hovering around 30–31°C into next week.
