Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the partnership between Indonesia and Russia holds significant potential to support Indonesia's economic transformation.
"Moving forward, Indonesia-Russia cooperation has significant potential to support Indonesia's economic transformation, particularly through industrial development, downstreaming, infrastructure development, energy security, digital transformation, technological development, and sustainable development," he expounded.
Airlangga made the remarks during his speech at the Russian National Day commemoration event in Jakarta on Monday evening.
According to him, both nations are committed to exploring new fields of cooperation to bolster their economic and industrial partnership.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the signing of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement last December serves as a major milestone.
The landmark deal is expected to expand market access, facilitate trade, and boost business engagement between Indonesia and Eurasian Economic Union member states, including Russia.
The minister also expressed appreciation for the opportunity given to the Indonesian government to participate as a partner country at Russia’s premier industrial trade exhibition, INNOPROM, scheduled to take place in Yekaterinburg from July 6 to 9.
Airlangga expressed hope that the participation would bolster collaboration between stakeholders from both nations in developing trade, science, value-added manufacturing, advanced industrial technology, the automotive sector, energy, and digital innovation.
"We are also committed to deepening our strategic partnership with Russia in line with Indonesia's Eight Visions, Asta Cita," he remarked.
Russia is one of Indonesia's strategic partners, with the two nations having maintained diplomatic relations for 76 years.
Indonesia-Russia economic relations have continued to show a positive trend, with bilateral trade between the two countries reaching US$5 billion in 2025.
The number of Russian tourist arrivals to Indonesia also continues to rise, backed by the launch of Moscow–Denpasar direct flights.
