Italy's annual inflation rate fell to
3% in June, down from 3.2% in May, according to a provisional
estimate released by Istat on Tuesday.
The national statistics agency said its consumer-price index was
flat this month compared to last.
"The slight slowdown in inflation reflects the price dynamics of
unprocessed food (from +5.5% to +4.5%), of services related to
recreation, including repair and personal care (from +3.0% to
+2.7%), and services related to transport (from +1.7% to
+1.1%)," Istat said.
"By contrast, prices for energy products accelerated, both
regulated energy products (from +5.6% to +9.3%) and
non-regulated energy products (from +12.5% to +12.9%)".
Italy's inflation rate has climbed significantly in recent
months following the energy-price shock triggered by the Iran
war.
Istat said its 'shopping trolley' index of the prices of food,
household goods, and personal care products rose by 1.6% in
June, down from 1.9% in May.
