
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Local government units in five municipalities of Oriental Mindoro suspended afternoon classes on Tuesday, June 30, due to inclement weather brought by a low-pressure area (LPA).
Classes at all levels in both public and private schools were suspended in Pola and Bansud towns.

Classes from preschool to senior high school were called off in the towns of Socorro, Pinamalayan, and Gloria.

The suspensions were issued as continuous rains affected parts of the province, with local officials prioritizing the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) earlier said an LPA inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility was bringing scattered rains over Mimaropa and other parts of Luzon, with the weather disturbance having a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
Authorities advised residents to monitor official announcements from their local government units and Pagasa for further updates, as weather conditions may change throughout the day. /mcm
