Adaptations of TV romantic comedy “The Baker and the Beauty,” created by Assi Azar in 2013, following supermodel Noa (Rotem Sela) and her romance with baker Amos (Aviv Alush), were recently sold by Keshet to Spain, Ukraine, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The three seasons of the show play off a chance meeting between an international celebrity and an ethnic working-class minority — Ashkenazi Noa and Yemenite Amos in the original version — and the romance that develops between them.
The 2020 American version for ABC revolved around an Australian entrepreneur and model and a Cuban-American baker.
“’The Baker and the Beauty’ is one of those shows with undeniable universal appeal,” said Salome Peillon, Keshet International’s managing director for distribution. “We’re particularly thrilled to help bring the French and Telegu adaptations of this captivating opposites-attract love story to viewers elsewhere.”
There have been five international adaptations to date, according to Keshet.

All three seasons of the original Israeli series starring Aviv Alush and Rotem Sela were sold to global streamer IZZY TV.
Keshet has also licensed the French TF1 adaptation to Mediaset España and Suspilne Ukraine, starring Amir Haddad and Ludmilla von Claer in the roles of the humble baker and the high-profile celebrity.
In a separate deal, the company has licensed the first season to Himalaya Television in Nepal.
In addition, the company closed a deal with Flow, a live TV and streaming platform in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, for Annapurna Studios’ Telegu-language adaptation of “The Baker and the Beauty” originally produced for Indian streamer aha.
