Ruby Rose Breaks Multiple Ribs, Hospitalized After Falling in Pool

Ruby Rose’s summer isn’t starting swimmingly.

The Orange is the New Black alum revealed she had to head to the hospital after accidentally slipping on the ledge of her pool and hitting her side on a wall as she fell in.

“RIP to my ribs, and to the rest of my summer,” she captioned the clip shared to her Instagram Story June 29. “They are broken, multiple.”

In the video, the 40-year-old can be seen clutching her side after she falls into the pool.

“Straight to the hospital, did not pass go or collect 200 dollars,” Rose continued, quipping, “That’s your girl!”

The Pitch Perfect 3 alum shared additional insight into the injury and her recovery on Threads, telling her followers she “landed perfectly” on the right side of her ribs, breaking the bottom two.

“Please come and take me out. I brought this upon myself,” she said. “And now I have to breathe into a machine lol.”

As she put it, “What a bloody Monday.”

Following her accident, Rose reflected on the difference between experiencing the injury now and a time when she suffered a similar injury while filming Batwoman, which aired in 2019.

At the time, the actor suffered two herniated discs while performing a stunt on the series, nearly severing her spinal cord and needing to undergo emergency surgery.

“I’m sorry, but what in the f--king dissociation and self abandonment did I do, to return to work on batwoman, the day after breaking my rib and neck,” she wrote on Threads. “My rib was killing me!! I couldn’t feel my legs or hands, I was in a batsuit!”

“I’ve just broken two ribs, falling into my own pool backwards,” she wrote alongside a laughing emoji,

and you couldn’t pay me to put a bra on, let alone stand up.”

But as she faces down a calmer, more relaxing recovery process, Rose looked to her followers for inspiration.

“Send good book and show recommendations,” she requested, noting, “this is going to take many weeks.”
