Two teenagers have been arrested after allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman and filming the attack inside a home in Portimão, according to Portugal’s Judicial Police (PJ).
The suspects, aged 18 and 19, are accused of rape, attempted rape and illegally recording the attack, which reportedly took place on December 14, 2025, the criminal police force said in a statement.
Inspectors say the woman had gone to bed after her flatmate’s birthday party, which the two suspects had been invited to as guests. She was alone in her bedroom and unable to contact the other people in the house when the men allegedly entered the room.
According to the statement, one of the suspects allegedly raped the woman while the other filmed the assault on a mobile phone. Police say the men then switched roles, with the second suspect allegedly attempting to rape the woman before she managed to fight him off, forcing both men to flee the house.
PJ police say an investigation began on the day of the alleged offences and led to the collection of evidence that investigators believe strongly links both suspects to the crimes. Officers also seized the mobile phone allegedly used to record the assault.
The two men were identified, located and arrested this week and are due to appear before a judge.
The investigation is being led by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Portimão.
