CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has readied relief goods and mapped out evacuation facilities across the Mimaropa region.
This is to assist communities that may be hit by the combined effects of a Low Pressure Area (LPA), the southwest monsoon or Habagat, and localized thunderstorms.

According to DSWD Mimaropa Regional Information Officer Ferdy Rañada, the agency laid out these measures during the pre-disaster risk assessment and scenario-building meeting convened by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Tuesday, June 30.

Rañada said a total of 171,719 family food packs have been prepositioned in warehouses across the region, which can hold up to 183,400 packs in all.
Occidental Mindoro has 32,259, Oriental Mindoro 20,910, Romblon 23,137 and Palawan 87,615.
The agency also confirmed that 1,902 evacuation centers are ready to accommodate families should they need to move to safer grounds.
These shelters include 502 facilities in Occidental Mindoro, 388 in Oriental Mindoro, 347 in Romblon, and 415 in Palawan. /apl
