EXCLUSIVE: Cleopatra Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to feature documentary Twiggy, the sophomore directorial outing of Brit actress Sadie Frost.
The well-received film takes an intimate, star-studded look at the life and legacy of the eponymous 1960’s supermodel, starting from her meteoric rise from a working-class London teen to a global “it-girl” and cultural icon.
The documentary blends archival footage with exclusive, modern-day interviews with famous friends and fans, including Paul McCartney, Dustin Hoffman and Brooke Shields, amongst others. The film played at festivals including London, Rio, Sydney, Dublin and Dinard.
The film will be released stateside on VOD Platforms and on Home Entertainment DVD formats on September 22nd 2026, following New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and there will be two special screenings in New York and LA, which Twiggy and Sadie Frost are both due to attend.
Sadie Frost said: “After my debut documentary on the iconic fashion designer Mary Quant, I wanted to dive deeper into the era and cultural figures who paved the way for how fashion evolved. Twiggy was a working-class London girl who against all odds took on the world, changing the look of women – both in society and fashion – forever. She is an integral part of British culture and before she had turned 17, she had already ascended into an international phenomenon. After a successful international run, I am delighted to now bring the film to a US audience.”
Twiggy added: “I’m so thrilled that the Twiggy documentary directed by Sadie Frost is now to be released in the USA. I’m over the moon at the international reception we’ve received for the film and can’t wait for its launch in America.”
Cleopatra Entertainment founder Brian Perera commented: “Twiggy is not just a model who defied time — she is a cultural monument. Her influence helped carry the spirit of the Mod movement from the 1960s into today, inspiring generations of music and fashion fans, from The Who and The Specials to No Doubt. Her wit, coolness, and beauty shine through in every part of her story. Securing the U.S. rights was important to me because her story deserves to reach a broader audience. I’m honored to have met her and proud to help share her remarkable story.”
Pic is produced by Nick Hamson for Soho Talent (part of the Film Soho group) and Simon Jones. The rights deal was brokered by Cleopatra Founder and CEO Brian Perera, Tim Yasui VP/GM of Cleopatra Entertainment, and by Lucy Savage from Studio Soho International on behalf of the filmmakers.
