The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, has said the poll should not be regarded as a contest among personalities but as an opportunity to elect a leader with the capacity to deliver better governance.
Adeyemi-Doro stated this in a statement he signed and made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday.
The candidate said the state has enormous untapped potential, adding that Osun could only harness its resources under a visionary and accountable governor.
He acknowledged the contributions of past administrations, including the current one, but argued that the state “needs a new generation of leaders that will focus on competence, innovation, transparency and measurable results.”
“My aspiration is not about personal ambition or political rivalry. It is about public service and repositioning Osun for greater prosperity. This election should be seen as a defining moment for the future of our state, not a contest between personalities.
“Osun people deserve better opportunities, better governance and a renewed commitment to development. Osun youths need meaningful jobs, entrepreneurship support and quality education that prepares them for the modern economy,” Adeyemi-Doro said.

Highlighting some of his programmes, Adeyemi-Doro identified agriculture as a sector that would receive priority attention, pledging to support farmers with mechanisation, access to credit, modern techniques and partnerships to make farming profitable and sustainable.
He also promised to prioritise education and healthcare, including improved welfare for teachers, upgraded school infrastructure and stronger, more affordable healthcare systems across the state.
On infrastructure, Adeyemi-Doro said his administration would embark on the comprehensive renewal of roads, schools, markets and public facilities, which he described as essential for growth and job creation.
“I will govern fairly and inclusively, irrespective of party, religion, ethnicity or status. Osun’s greatness lies in the resilience, creativity and enterprise of our people. I will create an environment where every citizen can succeed,” he said.
Voters in Osun State are expected to go to the polls on August 15 to elect a governor. The incumbent, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election.
Other candidates in the race include Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and 11 others.
