A man is dead and two people have life-threatening injuries after a suspicious fire that gutted a house on the Gold Coast last night.
Police allege an offender set fire to the home on Sickle Avenue, Hope Island, about 11:45pm.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said five crews attended and the fire was extinguished after two hours.
The house was extensively damaged.
Police said the body of a 38-year-old man was found inside the property.
A 44-year-old man and an 84-year-old man have life-threatening burns and were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
A 59-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries was also taken to hospital.
A 38-year-old man escaped the burning house and was not injured, police said.
A crime scene has been declared.
Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
