Lara Trump: Not enough ‘reasonable’ Democrats like Fetterman to save party from socialist takeover

President Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, said not enough “reasonable” Democrats like Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) are there to save the Democratic Party from a takeover by socialists.

“Look at what’s happening. Look at these socialists winning primaries across America. That is very serious. So, I do think that there are a few, at least, reasonable Democrats left out there, the John Fettermans of the world, who see this sort of thing, and they’re like, ‘Oh my god, this is the new party, and this is the face of our party.’ and they don’t want to see that happen,” Trump told conservative pundit Glenn Beck on his radio show, “The Glenn Beck Program” Monday.

“It is abysmal, by the way, that only 13 of them could muster up the courage to sign something that had to do with common sense and capitalism. America, take notice, this is the new Democrat party. They’re socialists and communists. If only 13 of them could figure that out,” she added, referencing a Democratic manifesto rejecting socialism supported by House lawmakers.

Democratic socialists have been making notable gains on the national political stage recently, with the wins of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) in his primary and later general election last year and fresh wins for the movement in New York, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles.

Fetterman, who has been known to buck his party in recent years, offered a warning about the rise of a “dirtbag left” within the Democratic Party following democratic socialist wins in New York.

“Yeah, no, I mean, these — the kind of people they are trying to run out of office, they are just good, traditional kinds of Democrats you would expect in New York City now,” Fetterman told Fox News’s Sean Hannity.

“And now this has just become — really, it’s just been the dancing days of the dirtbag left. You know, some of these candidates are outrageous. You have candidates, they’re ‘abolish ICE,’ ‘abolish the police,’ ‘abolish the border.’”

Democratic socialists are now looking beyond New York and toward other races like one in Colorado, where leftist candidate Melat Kiros is challenging Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) on Tuesday.
