
MANILA, Philippines — The four individuals arrested during a commotion at the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally in Quezon City have been released from police custody, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
“The bus driver was let off the hook by our police officer since what had happened was only part of his job, so she forgave him,” NCRPO spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo told reporters at the People Power Monument.

“The person who punched a police officer has been identified by our police officer… We’re still checking the available CCTV… The two others who caused a ruckus, we’re still checking what group they belonged to… They’re for further investigation,” he added.

After the INC mounted the rally early Tuesday morning, several buses moved to block all northbound lanes of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa), nearly trapping a police officer.
NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin ordered the bus driver arrested, causing a ruckus between several rallyists and law enforcers.
Police arrested at least three for allegedly hurting officers during the commotion.
The INC mounted the rally in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, who faces an impending plunder case over a P75-million donation to him when he was a congressman before his 2025 senatorial bid. /mr
