
MANILA, Philippines — Angat Dam continues to plummet below the 160-meter critical water level, dropping to 159.90 meters on Wednesday, July 1, according to the state weather bureau.
In the latest update of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the water reservoir in Bulacan fell 0.05 meters from Tuesday’s 159.95 meters recorded water level within 24 hours.

Angat Dam first fell below the 160-meter critical threshold last Monday, June 29, to 160.63 meters, according to Pagasa.

The normal high water level of Angat Dam, the major water source of Metro Manila, is at 212 meters above sea level.

In January, Angat Dam was at its normal-high water level, near the spilling level, at more than 210 meters.
Previously, Pagasa projected water recovery in the second to third week of July due to rainfall from the southwest monsoon, or habagat. /das
