MANILA, Philippines — The graft proceedings of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and former Public Works secretary Manuel Bonoan before the Sandiganbayan Second Division was moved to July 14.
The graft case filed in the anti-graft’s Second Division against Estrada and Bonoan stemmed from allegedly anomalous flood control projects in Bulacan worth P213 million.
“The case and all incidents moved to July 14,” a court official confirmed to Inquirer when asked if the proceedings were postponed. The official, however, refused to be identified for not being authorized to talk on the matter.

The pretrial of Estrada and arraignment of Bonoan was supposed to proceed this Wednesday.
Estrada did not enter a plea, prompting the Second Division to put a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Bonoan, on the other hand, has yet to be arraigned in the same division since he was placed on hospital arrest due to hypertension, chronic kidney disease, prostate cancer, among other illnesses.
The arraignment of both Estrada and Bonoan for their plunder case in the Fifth Division was also postponed to July 28.

The reason behind this postponement was the state prosecutor’s motion to amend the case information against the two, so they could discharge Bonoan from the case.
This was part of the Ombudsman’s move to turn Bonoan into a state witness. /gsg
