
The search for the next batch of Mutya ng Pilipinas queens is officially open as the national pageant announced its call for applicants for this year’s edition of the competition.
“Saan ka Mutya? (where are you Mutya?)” asked the second longest-running national pageant in the Philippines on social media, calling on ladies who would want to continue the legacy of the 58-year-old brand.
The competition is open to cisgender women, of Filipino ancestry with a least one parent in the direct line with Filipino citizenship. A certified true copy of either parent’s birth certificate is required to prove ancestry.

The applicant must be 18 to 27 years old, but should not be more than 28 years old on the day of the pageant finals. She should also possess either a high school of college diploma.

Aspiring Mutyas must possess a pleasing personality, beautiful face and body, and must be physically fit. She should also be single, never been married, and has never given birth nor been pregnant.
Applicants must have a defined personal advocacy, and must hold a valid National Police Clearance to verify that she does not have pending or active criminal cases.
They must also have a certificate of good moral character issued by a school, church, or professional organization, and must also obtain a health clearance from a physician for physical and mental fitness.

Since the pageant’s resumption after the COVID-10 pandemic, all of the Mutya ng Pilipinas delegates who competed in international contests copped placements for the country, with several of them bringing home crowns.
Among those who have clinced international titles were Miss Environment International winners Shannon Robinson and Arianna Pantaleon, Miss Chinese World Annie Uson, and Miss Tourism International Liana Barrido. /edv
