Kathmandu, July 1
The play First Draft, written and directed by Kanchan Sangroula, is set to be staged from July 17 at Oscar International College (Sadhana Ghar).
The play features director Sangroula herself alongside Abhay Raj Baral.
Presented by Drasta Creation, First Draft is an absurdist, meta-theatrical play that explores the conflicts of the creative process, existence, and the internal struggles of actors.
At the centre of the story is Meera, a young woman devoted to acting who is trying to write her first story. Amid countless thoughts, endless questions, and inner conflict, she struggles to shape her narrative. But as the line between imagination and reality gradually blurs, the character she has created, Hira, suddenly appears before her.
“First Draft is not just a play; it’s our dream,” said actor and director Kanchan Sangroula. “We want you to witness our dream.”
The play is produced by Pashupati Rai and Navin Neupane, with Janaki Kadayat serving as executive producer.
First Draft will run through August 5, with performances every day except Thursdays at 5:15 pm at Oscar International College (Sadhana Ghar). Additional shows will be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1:15 pm.
